Hey There!
Here is a list of three that I'm reading, learning, and listening to that appeared in my first "3 Dash Thursday" newsletter I send out weekly fo' FREE! Here is your weekly shot of "3-Dash Thursday," a record of what I'm appreciating and learning. The lists could include people, books, blogs, videos. podcasts, how-to's, audiobooks, quotes, apps, photos, etc... -What I'm listening to- Podcast - Here's the Thing w/ Guest Ira Glass (Host Alec Baldwin) This is an episode I came across searching the name Ira Glass ("This American Life") and the great thing about this podcast is Alec Baldwin, the host, and he is a spectacular interviewer. *Disclaimer - Most episodes have explicit language* -What I'm reading and learning- "The Daily Stoic" by Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman. I'm still a novice with Stoicism, but Ryan Holiday has immersed himself in this ancient philosophy. In this book are short daily meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living. There was a passage on May 16th about Jerry Seinfeld's "Joke a Day" strategy. He writes at least a joke a day and marks an "X" on a calendar he creates specifically for this project. The goal is to not break the chain. I love this because many of us feel like we need to overload ourselves with a new positive habit to be better when in reality this dies out eventually and we revert back to our comfort zone. Implementing it down to one minute, one set, or one healthy meal = doable and sustainable -Favorite quote from the week- We just finished up the gothic fantasy young adult novel "The Graveyard Book" by Neil Gaiman. I then downloaded the audiobook narrated by Neil Gaiman (he is an amazing narrator) to make the story more exciting for my sixth graders. He was interviewed and asked - Do you only write when inspired? and his reply was "If you only write when you're inspired, you may be a fairly decent poet, but you'll never be a novelist...." Neil Gaiman --- Send me any requests or suggestions through email or Twitter. What dash is your favorite? What do you want to see more of? Let me know. Send me a tweet @teachertunnel and put #3dashthursday to make it easy to find. Enjoy the rest of your week... ---
Would you like to receive a short and entertaining email from me every Thursday with 3 interesting things I've found for the week to be of value?
This could include books I'm reading or listening to, websites I've come across, gear I'm enjoying, apps I'm trying out, documentaries that have an impact, and many other things that I really learned from and implemented. The "3 Dash Thursday" emails are only available if you subscribe to the weekly newsletter. They will not be posted anywhere else. Try it out for a week or so, and see if you like it. Unsubscribing is easy and I manage everything, so if you have questions or comments you can always respond to the email and I will respond. JOIN THE "3 DASH THURSDAY" GROUP
